PU leather general
This leather is dyed-through cowhide split leather with an embossed or dyed surface. Split leather is generally not very durable, but the polyurethane (PU) coating makes the leather completely water and dirt repellent, making it more durable. However, since polyurethane is a synthetic material, the leather loses its breathability and feels cold. Due to this loss of leather properties, PU leather should not really be called leather.
Possible damage
PU leather usually deteriorates after just a few years. The coating often cracks in exposed areas, or the leather becomes sticky and dull. Repairs are usually no longer possible.
