Calfskin

Calfskin General

Calfskin is either of South American or European origin and is one of the highest quality leathers. Generally, a "calf" is defined as a young animal that has not yet reached one year of age or weighed more than 150 kilograms.

Properties of calf leather

According to tanning tradition, calf leather is referred to as "hide" and that of adult cows as "skin." Calf leather is unique in its structure, being both very thin and lightweight, as well as windproof and tear-resistant. The only difference between these two leathers is the comparatively finer grain density of calf leather. Calf leather is therefore particularly strong and even in its structure.
