Krispeln General
Crispling or levanting is a process in leather processing in which the leather becomes more supple and the grain is highlighted.
The crisping process
The tanned and dyed, wet leather is pulled over a sheet edge using two rollers.
This compresses the grain side of the leather and creates small, fine, parallel wrinkles in the leather.
The process of peening, like embossing, leaves a permanent mark on the leather's surface. The most well-known leather of this type is morocco leather.
