How can we verify that our agreement with our producers is being adhered to?

What do we do to ensure the safety and health of our tanneries’ employees?
Protective clothing is a must.
All of our employees who come into contact with wet leather as part of their duties must wear protective clothing, including protective boots and gloves.
This requirement is of the highest priority to us, as we are determined to prevent our employees' health from suffering from excessive contact with water and chemicals. Constant exposure to wet leather without protection is not beneficial for skin health.
To help our producers meet our requirements, Gusti covers 50% of the cost of any safety clothing. This helps ensure our employees receive high-quality, safe protection.
To ensure that our safety standards are not forgotten, we regularly send reminders to our producers via our official communication channels. While we trust that our producers will remember them and comply with the standards themselves, it's always better to be safe than sorry.
Our employees are important to us, which is why we want to protect their health.

How do we check whether our security standards are being met?
To ensure that all employees are protected at work, our Quality Control (QC) team conducts several unannounced visits each month. During these visits, we capture the workstations and other impressions of the work environment via video and photographs. This allows us to hold the respective manufacturer accountable if they fail to adequately protect their employees.
In addition, QC ensures that old safety gloves, in particular, are regularly replaced with new ones. After a defined number of visits, a small hole is punctured in each used glove. This hole is positioned so that it does not impair the protective function of the gloves. Once old gloves have two holes, they are replaced with new ones.
This procedure ensures that employees in the tanneries always have functional protective clothing.
In this way, we hope to create safe working conditions. Unfortunately, we cannot be on-site at all times to monitor the situation at every production facility. Therefore, we trust that our producers will always act responsibly and in the best interests of all employees.

Was passiert, wenn Mitarbeiter keine Schutzkleidung tragen?
