Breathability General
Breathability describes the ability of a material to allow water vapor to pass through. High breathability, especially in clothing and shoes, means greater comfort, as moisture can be transported away from the body, preventing excessive sweating.
Breathability leather
Breathability varies depending on the type of leather. Open-pored, delicate leathers have very high breathability, while heavily treated leathers have lower breathability. Suede is even more breathable.
Several factors play a significant role in the quality of leather. Breathability is important, but the leather's strength and dirt resistance should also be considered. For this reason, leather is usually protected with a surface layer, which limits breathability.
Breathability synthetic leather
Synthetic leather is significantly less breathable than real leather. Even heavily treated leather is significantly more breathable than synthetic leather.
